ABOUT MY PROCESS
In 2003 I started having panic attacks...
It was unsustainable and had to change. To fix it I got into Zen meditation and calm breathing (“yoga breathing” or “pranayama”) which was super helpful, especially the more I studied the science and physiology of the breath, and is still the cornerstone of my practice to this day…
But there was something much deeper.
Calm breathing practice was effective but sometimes felt like trying to lay a blanket over an active volcano. Something deeper needed to be expressed.
Then I experienced Somatic Breathwork.
At the time it was under a different name. It is derived from ancient, indigenous, Shamanic lineage and has branched off with names like Holotropic, Rebirthing, Dynamic, Rewilding, Conscious Connected Breathing and others.
At its core what it is - is liberation.
Accessing and expressing what has been so deeply repressed in the body and unconscious mind we often don’t know it’s there, just that we feel a sense of stress, tension, pressure, anxiety, lethargy, existential dread, sadness, lack of clarity, frustration, mushy thinking or just dead weight we’re lugging around.
Our breath is the simplest, most effective way to tap into the deepest running currents of our nervous system and set ourselves free...
To feel more fully.
To express.
To heal.
Liberating us from the past (stress, abuse, trauma), connecting us to the aliveness of the present, and paving the way for a bright and energized future.
